David W. Bassitt
David W. "Bill" Bassitt, 59, Findlay, died Aug. 19, 1999 at his residence. He was born Oct. 20, 1939 in Lima to Robert and Catherine (Musser) Bassitt. On Dec. 28, 1963, he married Margie Marshall Lawhead, and she survives. Survivors also include a son, Mark Bassitt of Findlay; two daughters, Suzy (Tim) Evans of Findlay, and Sheila (Jeffry) Patterson of San Fransisco, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Bassitt of Toledo and Mike Bassitt of Lima; five sisters, Carol (Don) Williams of Lima, Pat (George) Miller and Mary (Tom) Gerdeman, both of Columbus Grove, and Linda (Gerald) Dearth of Ada; and five grandchildren. Mr. Bassitt retired as a corporate photographer for Marathon Oil Company in 1994. He was a former photographer and writer for the Lima News. He was active with Boy Scouts of America, a member of U.C.O.A. and was a 1957 graduate of Lima Senior High School. Mr. Bassitt was a U.S. Army veteran. Services were held Aug. 24 at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home with the Rev. Ruth Solo officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to U.C.O.A., Bridge Home Heath and Hospice, or Cancer Patient Services.
