      Raymond F. Bassett

      Raymond F. Bassett of Newtown died peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at Pickering Manor, Newtown. He was 87.

      Born in Buckmanville, Pa., Ray grew up in Wycombe and was a lifelong Newtown area resident.

      Ray is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

      He was the Treasurer of Bucks County for several years and a member of the Lingohocken Fire Co. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 440, the Defiance Lodge 335, Knights of Pythias, the Newtown Reliance Co. where he served as President for several years and a Republican Committeeman for Bucks County.

      Ray was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Newtown Exchange Club.

      Ray was a Licensed Real Estate Agent for the A.W. Doyle Agency for more than 25 years.

      Ray was the son of the late Frank and Jennie Atkinson Bassett, and the devoted and loving husband to the late Georgeann Birdsong Bassett.

      He is survived by his children: Georgeann and Edward Weitz of Warminster, Gretchen and Joseph Luff Jr. of Islamorada, Fla. and Paul and Susan Longsdorf of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and the loving grandfather of six: Denice Wuerthele, Stephen C. Barr, Amy S. Smith, Joseph B. Luff III, Katra Gilanyi and Joshua Longsdorf.

      She is the proud great-grandfather of 11.

      Private services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

      Enola B. Wiley
      Enola B. Wiley of Heritage Towers Apartments, Doylestown, died at her residence Monday. She was 82. She was the wife of George Wiley.
      Born in Upper Makefield Township, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Poole Bassett. She was a Buckingham Township resident for 59 years and had been a resident of Doylestown since March.
      Mrs. Wiley was a graduate of the Taylor Business School of Philadelphia and she and her husband operated the George Wiley and Son Paving Company, retiring in 1972.
      Mrs. Wiley was a member of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church for more than fifty years and was active in organizations within the church. She was a member of the Buckingham's Women's Club and a volunteer at the Doylestown Hospital. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
      In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, G. Thomas Wiley of Doylestown; two daughters, Jane E. Smith of Acton, Massachusetts; and Shirley A. McClure of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Winfield Bassett of Yardley and Raymond F. Bassett of Newtown.
      Memorial services will be conducted at the Doylestown Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 2 p.m.
      Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Wiley's name to the Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown 18901.
