Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Anna May returned to her heavenly home on Sept. 22, 2011. She passed peacefully, with her loving husband and family by her side, at the Heritage Care Facility in American Fork, Utah after her battle with Alzheimer's. She was born August 30, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest Lynn Wright Sr. and Rachel Verda Bradford Wright, the second child of eight children.
She graduated from East High School and LDS seminary in 1948. In 1951 she married her sweetheart and eternal companion, Arthur L. Bassett Sr., they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on October 31st of this year. They resided in Utah the first fourteen years of their marriage before moving to Southern California. They spent 40 years living in the San Diego area, before returning to reside in Utah once again, in the Saratoga Springs area. They spent many years together in love, work, service, and in raising their large family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was an active and devoted member of the LDS church. One of her great loves in life was music. She served as ward organist, in various wards, for most of her adult life.
Anna May loved creating with her hands. She spent many hours sewing quilts, crocheting blessing dresses and Afghans, and other handy work items that her family will cherish for many years to come. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and also served as the President of the San Diego area chapter for six years. Anna May was always proud of her pioneer heritage. She enjoyed genealogy and visiting the towns, homes, and cemeteries where her descendants lived and were buried. She loved hosting dinners in her home for her family as many of her children and grandchildren would come for visits. Her wonderful cooking was enjoyed by all.
Anna May worked for the U.S. Postal Service for nearly 35 years while she raised her large family. She was preceded in death by her parents, one of her brothers: Ernest Jr., her 2 baby sisters: Geraldine and Velma. She is survived by her husband Art, 5 sons and 4 daughters: Kathryn Hardy, Colorado Springs, CO; Arthur Jr. (Jalene) Bassett, S. Jordan, UT; Douglas (Nedra) Bassett, Gilbert, AZ; Christie Bassett, W.
