Richard (Dick) Allen Bassett
July 14, 1959 - July 21, 2013
Richard (Dick) Allen Bassett, 79, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his home in Nampa, after suffering a massive stroke.
Richard was born in Brokenbow, Nebraska on July 14, 1959 to Joseph and Opal Bassett. As a boy Richard's family moved from Nebraska to Idaho, where he graduated from Melba High School and then served our Country in the US Navy.
On August 14, 1959 Richard married Dorothy Jean Lyle at the Franklin Road Nazarene Church in Nampa, during this 53 year marriage they were blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Richard was a hard worker, he worked at Carnation, Eddy's Bread, 7-Up, and eventually retired from Simplot, but he never really stopped working.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Opal Bassett, his siblings, Betty West, Shorty Bassett and Ken Bassett. He is survived by his wife Dorothy J. Bassett, daughter Denece (Toby) Fisher, sons Durwin (Wendy)Bassett and Don (Angie) Bassett, 5 grandchildren, Tara Kennedy, Conner Bassett, Caleb Bassett, David Bassett and Lauren Bassett, and siblings Bonnie Corle, Art Bassett and Julia (Loien) Rauh.
A Memorial Service for Richard will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Karcher Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W. Karcher Rd., Nampa. To share a memory of Richard or to offer condolences to Richard's family please visit www.alsipfuneralchapel.com
