Opal Bassett

Services for Opal E. Bassett, 83, of Nampa Route 5, who died Tuesday, Dec. 20, in a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Karcher Church of the Nazarene, corner of Middleton and Karcher Roads, with the Rev. Ken Morrison, pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
She was born Feb. 18, 1900, at Merna, Neb. She was reared and educated in Nebraska. She was married to Joseph I. Bassett on Dec. 24, 1923, at Hastings, Neb.
They farmed at Arnold, Neb., until moving to Rupert, in 1945. In 1951 they moved to Nampa. He died Aug. 2, 1973 and she continued to make her home in Nampa. She was a very active member of the Karcher Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by four sons, Claudice "Shorty" Bassett, Boise, Kenneth Bassett, Twin Falls, Arthur Bassett, La Mesa, Calif., and Richard Bassett, Nampa; three daughters, Mrs. Betty West, Nampa, Mrs. Bonnie Ewing, Twin Falls, and Mrs. Julia Fuller, Boring, Ore.; 27 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one grandson.
