Marjorie Bassett
Marjorie Bassett, 84, of North Platte died July 13, 2001, at Linden Court. She was born May 25, 1917, to Glenn E. and Grace R. Carpenter Styker at Rising City. She attended elementary school in the Morning Star area and attended high school in Callaway, graduating in 1934. She married Herry Edgington in August 1937. He preceded her in death in 1955. In Januarhy 1965, she married Walter Bassett. They made their home in North Platte. He preceded her in death in April 1988. Throughout her life she had worked as a teacher, a storekeeper, a doctor?s assistant and a bookkeeper. While living iN Callaway, she was very active in the Morning Star Church. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Sarah Rebekah Lodge 10. Survivors include two step-daughters, Judy R. Brown of Mesa, Ariz., and Sue (Don) Mazance of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Wilma (Howard) Van Cleave of Arnold and Mable Hahn of Omaha; a brother-in-law, Kermit Paxton of Stapleton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Ferne Frederick, Laura Pierce, Amy Griffith and Lois Paxton; and two brothers, Elma and Billie B. Stryker. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Lux officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Women. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.
