Reta K. Bassitt
Reta K. Bassitt, 66, Bradenton and formerly of Sarasota, died March 10, 2005.
She was born Feb. 19, 1939, in Sparta, N.C., and raised in Traphill, N.C. She came to Manatee County in 1959 from Elkton, Md., and moved to Sarasota in 1962, then back to Bradenton in 2000. She worked for Sarasota County School Board for 20 years. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Bradenton and was co-owner of Bassitt Automotive from 1962 to 1999.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy (Mike) Varsalona and Julie (Tom) Gramman, both of Bradenton; a sister, Linda Gallen of Bradenton; her mother, Pauline Pruitt of Bradenton; and four grandchildren, Ty and Tanner Varsalona, and Kyle and Keaton Gramman.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, with a service to follow, at Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 26th Street Chapel.
