THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF HENRY BASS
In the name of the Benevolent Father of All, I Henry Bass, do make and publish this my last will and Testament.
Item First
I give and devise to my beloved wife Elizabeth Bass in lieu of her interest in my Estate, the use, rents, and profits during the term of her natural life, my House and Lot and afrertemances thereto belonging on Pennsylvania Street in the City of Shelbyville Indiana and adjoining the which I now reside Also the use, rents and profits of Sixty six acres of land in Shelby County Indiana to be used and enjoyed by her during the term of her natural life free from any constraints of my heirs, Executor or Adminstrators And I further desire to her absolutely the Household goods furniture and furnishings on hand at my death and a good horse and one good milk cow.
Item Second
I give and devise to my Grandchild Roletta Jane Kinsley child of my deceased daughter Barbara Kinsley the sum of Four ($400) Hundred Dollars; and to my grandchildren George and Ellen Glover children of my deceased daughter Lucy GLover the sum of Two ($200) Hundred Dollars each, all of said amounts to be paid out of the first assetts of my Estate before any disbtributions is made among the other heirs of my Estate. This I give to them to make the advancements among my children equal, except as to my sons Lison and Jordan Bass as hereinafter stated.
Item Third
I hereby charge my son Lison Bass with an advancement of Four ($400) and my son Jordan Bass with and advancement of One ($100) Hundred Dollars said amounts having been received by them from my Estate more than my other children and I direct that all my other children including my grandchildren herein named to have their deceased Mothers share, to be made equal to my said sons Lison and Jordan before they recives any further of my Estate, and after they have all been made equal as herein stated then the residue to be divided equal among my children giving to my grandchildren their deceased mothers share the same as if they (their mothers were) living.
Item Fourth
At the death of my said wife the Real Estate above described shall be sold by me Excutors and the proceeds devided equally among all my children including my grandchildren herein named who are to heir their deceased mothers share.
Item Fifth
I hereby appoint my son Jordan Bass and Perry M Green my Executors of this my last will and testament, and I hereby revoke all former wills made by me. In testimony where I have hereto set my hand and seal on this 29th day of May 1865.
