Leona E. Bassitt
Leona E. Bassitt, 99, died June 10th, 2017. Born in Detroit, MI, she moved to Bradenton, FL, in 1947 from North Baltimore, OH. Married to Lyle Cleo Bassitt, Dec 25th, 1937 who predeceased her in 1983. She started working in the Manatee County Tag Office in 1949 selling tags and began working in the office full time in 1964. In 1973, she became Tag Agent for Manatee County retiring in January 1978. She and Lyle were president of the Florida National Square Dance Camper Association in 1982. Predeceased by her parents, Scott and Effie Bryant; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rita; survived by daughter, Linda (Max) Loden and son, Larry (Connie); 7 grandchildren, Julie (Tom) Gramman, Kathy (Mike) Varsalona, Gina (Gene) Brown, Lee (Michelle) Bassitt, Scott (Nicole) Loden, Becky (Ryan) Wallace and Mary (David) Garrigan; 21 great grandchildren, Kyle, & Keaton Gramman, Ty and Tanner Varsalona, Ryan (Stefanie) Brown and Rachel Brown, Jacob, McKenzie and Michaela Bassitt, Caleb, Aubrey, Michael, Emma Loden, Anabelle and Alexa Wallace, Barrett, Luke, Peter, Flint, Allie and Esther Garrigan and 1 greatgreat grandchild, Jacob Brown.
Visitation will be 12Noon - 1:00PM, Friday, June 16th, 2017 with Services to follow at 1:00PM at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34207. Memorial Donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Clearwater, FL 33760.
