Betty Ann Bassett, 59, of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.
In keeping with her wishes, she has been cremated and interment will take place at a later date at Wilcox Cemetery in Barry County. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Thornapple Valley Church, 2750 M-43, Hastings, MI 49058.
Betty was born November 6, 1962 in Hastings, Michigan to Jerry and Linda (Bristole) Cross. She attended Hasting High School and graduated in 1981. On June 20, 1981 she married Douglas A. Bassett. He survives. Betty was employed as a nurse?s aide at Thornapple Manor, formerly the County Farm. She attended the Mormon Church of Hastings. Betty enjoyed ceramics, women?s softball, watching the rodeos, and spending time with her grandson, Douglas III (nicknamed ?Wilbur?), who called her ?Porky? because they used to watch ?Charlotte?s Web? and ?Babe? movies together. Betty also loved horses and frogs.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Douglas Bassett; her daughter, Jennifer Bassett; her siblings, Mary Bechtel, Susie Davis and David Cross; grandson Douglas III; her mother, Linda Bristole; the mother of her grandson, Sandie Kloth; aunts, uncles, lots of cousins, nieces and nephews; and special brother in law, Dennis (Mary) Bassett; and her dog, Chubbs.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Cross; a son, Douglas A. Bassett II; grandparents, Lyle and Kathryn Bristole and Edith and Charles Cross; and many aunts and uncles.
