Chas F. Bessette 60, Dies In Malone
Charles F. Bessette, 60, a native of Plattsburgh and long a resident of Malone, passed away at his home there Monday morning after a short illness.
Mr. Bessette was born in Plattsburgh August 12, 1879, a son of Noel and Philomene (Senecal) Bessette and had been employed for 36 years by the New York Central railroad. For the past 25 years he had been a conductor on the Adirondack division.
On Oct. 29, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Robare of Malone. She survives him, together with one son, Floyd Bessette, of Malone, and three daughters, Mrs. Walter G. Mullarney and Mrs. Harold J. Hamilton of Malone and Mrs. Percy W. Stone of St. Johnsville, N.Y. Two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Fayette of Malone and Mrs. Cordelia Mayo of Munson, Mass., and several grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Bessette was a member of Notre Dame church, Malone, the St. J.B. association, Malone; Conseil LeGrand of L’Union St. J.B., Malone, Loyal Order of Moose and the Order of Railway Conductors. Funeral will be held in Malone this morning.

Charles F. Bessette Sr. Reynolds Metals Retiree
Charles F. Bessette Sr., 65, Malone, died Wednesday in Alice Hyde Medical Center.
In his younger years, Mr. Bessette worked in the family business, Blue Bird Taxi. He later became employed at Reynolds Metals, Massena, where he worked for more than 35 years before his retirement.
Born Aug. 7, 1936, in Malone, son of Floyd N. and Catherine I. Ritchie Bessette, he was a 1956 graduate of Franklin Academy and a member of the National Guard for 23 years.
He married Constance G. Butzer on Oct. 27, 1962, in Notre Dame Church with Monsignor Edmund Dumas officiating.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles F. Jr., Burke, and Curtis and Lisa, Madison Heights, Va.; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and Jay Sullivan; two brothers, Robert, Massena, and Gerald, Malone; a sister, Beverly Ashlaw, Heuvelton, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was said Friday at Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Arrangements were with St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home.
