Frances L. Bassett
NEW BEDFORD — Frances L. Bassett, 66, of Acushnet, passed away on Thursday,
April 22, 2010, at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility, after a brief period
of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Barbara
(MacKay) Bassett.
She was born in New Bedford, raised in Cuttyhunk, and lived in Acushnet for
many years. She was a high school graduate and was a Secretary for the Long
Plain Methodist Church in Acushnet. She also was a member of the Emmaus
Reunion Group and the Arts & Crafts Group.
In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading; but most of
all she loved being with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children, Wanda L. Bento and her companion,
Benjamin Clarke of Acushnet, Manuel J. Bento and his companion, Kevin McCann
of NC, Karen Isherwood of Fairhaven and Frances Rousseau and her husband, Gary
of Wareham; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, David
Bassett of NH; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Nancy Mach.
Visitation will be Sunday 2-5 PM at Rock Funeral Home. Her Funeral Services
will be held at the Long Plain Methodist Church, Acushnet on Monday at
noontime. Interment River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to any Animal shelter
of one's choice.
