      Harriet M. (Bassett) Darsch, age 93, of Plymouth, died on June 23, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Plymouth following a brief illness. She was a resident of the Stafford Hill senior living community in Plymouth where she was known as "The Plant Lady" for her indoor gardening skills. Born in Chatham, June 7, 1923, daughter of the late Harold E. and Gertrude (Bassett) Bassett, she was a direct Mayflower descendant and member of the Mayflower Society. She was educated in Plymouth and was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1941. She entered the U.S. Navy following her high school graduation where she proudly served during World War II, and at the time of her death was the oldest surviving female WWII veteran in Plymouth. Harriet had worked as a health inspector for many years for the town of Plymouth, was instrumental in the operation of the Bloodmobile and in later years volunteered regularly for Meals on Wheels. Harriet was the devoted wife of the late William S. Darsch and the loving mother of Jeffrey Darsch of Plymouth, Christopher Darsch of Weymouth and the late Stephen Darsch of Plymouth. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Linda Darsch of Plymouth and Barbara Darsch of Weymouth and was the sister of Sumner P. Bassett, Everett E. Bassett, Christine Teller, Joyce Brown, Josephine Emerick, Louise Dudley and Nellie Dyer whom all predeceased her. She was the cherished grandmother of Angela Cabrera and Michael Darsch and great-grandmother of Triston Cabrera and Evelyn Darsch. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, among them Walter Teller of CA, Patricia Wood of RI and Jeannie Lee Schroeder of WA. Cremation will take place in Vine Hills Crematory, Plymouth and a private graveside service will take place in the Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth.
