L.D. Bassett
Luke D. Bassett, 73, of 539 South Limestone Street, formerly a court reporter and the grand jury stenographer here for many years, died unexpectedly at 5:45 p.m. yesterday at the home of a brother, James T. Bassett, 110 Arcadia Park.
Mr. Bassett, who had worked recently as an income tax consultant, was a native of Owen County, but he had lived here most of his life. He was a son of the late John P. and Adaline Braden Bassett and was a member of the Caney Fork Baptist Church in Owen County.
Besides his brother here, survivors are five other brothers, William B. Bassett and Palmer Bassett, Owen County; Buell Bassett and Carl Bassett, Scott County, and Ernest Bassett, Frankfort, and two sisters, Mrs. Hallie Dickey and Mrs. Emma Hughes, Scott County.
The body was taken to Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.
