Arthur Bassett of Lynn, at 72, shipyard worker
Arthur H. Bassett of Lynn, a retired electronic supervisor, died Sunday at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was 72.
He was born in East Boston, was a graduate of East Boston High School and attended the Wentworth Institute of Boston.
Mr. Bassett was an electronic supervisor for the Boston Naval Shipyard for 32 years until he retired in 1973.
Mr. Bassett was a member of the Greater Lynn Art Association and was active in the Retired Men?s and Women?s Club of the Lynn YMCS. He was also a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite L. (Crowley), three daughters, Jane A. Corbin of Tewksbury, Joan M. McElligott and Judith A. Carter, both of Lynn; a son, Timothy A. of Lynn; a sister, Arlene Hart of Hunstville, Ala.; a brother, Merrill E. of Lynn; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held for Mr. Bassett at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Solimine and Rhodes Funeral Home, 426 Broadway St., Lynn.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
