Judith Bassett
October 1943 - July 2015
Retired San Antonio teacher, Judith Bassett, 71, born October 1943 in Seattle, Washington, died July 2015, after 30 years teaching in Northside Independent Schools.
She is survived by her two sisters, Rexanne (Rick) Hamilton of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Cynthia Abbas of Austin, three neices, Tania Abbas of New York City, Amber Abbas of Philadelphia, and Rahilla (Don) Shatto of Houston, and their three daughters, Miriam, Evelyn and Lourdina, and California and Oregon cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Wilma M. and Rexford E. Bassett.
Ms. Bassett received her B.S. in Education from Southwest Texas State University and her M.S. from Texas A&I University. After retirement she practiced massage therapy to age 69. Known for her gentle manner, good heart and happy giggle, she volunteered for Bridge Builders, serving underprivileged children, and was active in Alamo City Church. She won tennis trophies and was an avid skier in Europe, New Mexico and Colorado. A memorial service is scheduled August 8, 2015 at 11 a.m.at Funeral Caring chapel located in Alamo City Church, 6500 North IH 35, San Antonio, Texas. A reception will be held after the service.
