George Rodney Bassett
BASSETT, GEORGE RODNEY. June 2, 1950 - June 11, 2008. George Rodney Bassett,
58 years old, passed away on June 11 due to a brain stem glioma. He is survived
by his wife, Melissa, his children Jessica Bloede, George Jr., and Emily, his
brother Harry, his twin Patrick and his stepmother, Florence Knoll Bassett. He
was predeceased by his mother, Marguerite and his father, Harry Hood Bassett.
George received a BA from University of Denver in 1973 and an MBA from
University of Miami in1976. Since starting his career at Southeast Bank,
George held multiple positions in finance. He loved cars, music, Labradors and
above all, his family. George's charisma, warmth, humor, and caring will be
missed by all. Memorial services will be held Monday June 16 at 1:00 at St.
Thomas Episcopal Church located at 5692 N. Kendall Drive in Coral Gables. In
lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to University of Miami, Dept. of
Neurology Clinical Research for Brain Cancers in honor of Mr. Bassett at 1120
