LaGrange Pioneers
George Eelbeck, 1935
George Eelbeck was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1816. He married Mary Frindall in 1848. They came to Wisconsin in 1855, and settled in the southeast conrer of Section 24 of LaGrange, having land also in Troy, where stood the house. They used to walk to LaGrange Center taking eggs and butter to exchange for groceries which had to be carried back. Their four children were: Annie (Mrs. Bassett) of Bloomer, Wisconsin, Eliza (Mrs. Coman) deceased, Sarah (Mrs. George King) deceased, Charles who married Emma Edwards, now deceased; Elbert, their only child, lives with his father on the old homestead. Charles has sold a number of summer-home lots on the east shor of Plesant Lake.
