  Notes	Obituary Melvin ?Barney? Bassett (Picture included) August 23, 1938 ? September 13, 2018 Melvin Leo ?Barney? Bassett, 80, of Spotsylvania passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Mr. Bassett was a founding member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Dale City. He worked for the US Postal service for 31 years and Spotsylvania County for 21 years. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Ruth Ann; his son, Michael and wife, Sherri; his 2 granddaughters; his siblings, George, Harry, Leland, Mary, Sara, Vida, and Geneva; and his favorite cat, Tangey. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Bassett; and his siblings, William, Arch, Alvin, Gene, and Jack. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30pm at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Dale City on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm in the church on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Burial will follow at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association at alsa.org.
