Rites Today for D.W. Bassett
Funeral services for Dempsey W. Bassett, 78, of Coshocton, will be conducted from the Dawson funeral home there at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon with Rev. W.E. Powell officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn cemetery in Coshocton.
Mr. Bassett, former Tuscarawas township justice of the peace for thirty years died at his home Saturday.
Mr. Bassett, who retired as justice of peace 10 years ago, was born Feb. 10, 1876, at Plainfield, a son of John and Ellen Shaffer Bassett.
At one time he taught in Muskingum and Coshocton county rural schools.
Mr. Bassett went to Coshocton from Muskingum county in 1913.
He was married to Ada Hahn on Dec. 26, 1904. He was a member of the Masonic lodge here, the Aladdin Temple, Columbus, and the United Brethren church.
Surviving are the widow, two sons, William Bassett of Coshocton and Burney Bassett of Canton; a daughter, Mrs. Parker Imhaff, Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Washauer, Columbus, and Mrs. Ray Loos, Cambridge; two brothers, Clarence of Oxford, Fla, and Charles of Brewster; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
