Bassetts celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bassett, Sr., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 5. They were married June 5, 1939, at the Methodist Parsonage in Lysander.
The Reverend ViVere officiated. Attendants were Betty Farnham and William Bassett.
They live at RD 3, South Granby Road, Fulton. The couple has two sons, Raymond Jr. of Fulton and Everett of Union Springs. They also have four daughters, Carolyn Johnson, Sylvia Day, Dale Snow, and Karen Friot, all of Fulton.
They have thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bassett
Esther I. Bassett, 87, of the Town of Granby died on Friday. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI. She lived in Granby since 1939. She graduated from Phoenix High School. She retired from Birds-Eye Canning Co. in 1980. Her husband, Raymond E. Bassett Sr. died in 1998. She was a member of the Little Utica United Methodist Church and several of its organizations.
Survivors: Sons, Raymond E. Bassett, Jr. of Fulton and The Rev. Everett J. Bassett of Cicero; daughters, Carolyn Johnson, Sylvia Day, Dale Snow and Karen Friot all of Fulton; a brother, Elton Bowersox of Phoenix; a sister, Elizabeth Farnham of Phoenix; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix. Rev. Donald Easton, officiating. Burial at Jacksonville Cemetery. Calling hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Contributions: Little Utica United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 484, Phoenix, N.Y. 13135.
