Ralph Emerson Bassett Jr., 85, Of Middletown Township, PA
Ralph Emerson Bassett Jr., 85, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at home. Born in Haddonfield, NJ, Mr. Bassett had been a resident of Middletown Township for the past 37 years. Mr. Bassett was a graduate of Frankford High School and Temple University. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and participated in the Normandy Invasion. He had been employed by Joseph Pollard of Long Island, NY, in sales until his retirement. He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Glen Mills, PA, and the VFW Post #405 of Philadelphia, PA. Survivors: His wife of 61 years, Anne Barr Bassett; 1 son, Ralph E. (Joan) Bassett III; 1 daughter, Carol Bassett (Gordon) Carlisle; 2 grandchildren, Ralph E. Bassett IV and Sara Elizabeth Bassett. Burial Office wth Requiem Eucharist will begin on Saturday 11 AM from St. John's Episcopal Church, 576 Concord Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342. Interment with military honors will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the above named church or to Taylor Hospice, 300 Johnson Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078 would be appreciated.
