Joseph Francis Bassett
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Joseph Francis Bassett passed away on Wednesda
January 20, 2010, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving famil
He was born in Lowell, MA on March 15, 1931. Joe will be remembered as a
loving husband and father.
He had numerous friends, and he was a hard worker. He and his unique sense of
humor will be missed very much.
After serving for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, he retired to Corpus
Christi, working at Padre Island Investment Corporation, and Padre Isles
Country Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and
Mabel Bassett, and his brother, Robert (Bob) Bassett (Margaret).
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria Jesus Bassett; one daughter,
Violet Bassett-Mathy (Jay Mathy) of Alpine, CA; two sons, Richard Basse
(Aida) and Michael Bassett, both of Corpus Christi, TX; his two grandchildren,
Joshua and Marbella Bassett; his brother, Cyrus W. (Bill) Bassett (Mary), of
Jericho, VT.
Nephews and nieces include David (Lynda), Kathleen, Douglas (Stephanie),
Michael, Robert (Marilyn), Martha (Thomas), Thomas (Carol), Mary, Ann
(Richard); and numerous other family members.
BASSETT -- Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010. A
bible based talk will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the
Reid Chapel. Entombment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean
