Marion V. Bassett, 77
ATHOL - Marion V. (Brigham) Bassett, 77, of 71 Oakland Ave., formerly of
Petersham, died yesterday in Gardner Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, after an
illness. She leaves her husband of 43 years, Ernest K. Bassett; three sons,
Edward L. Bassett of Phillipston, Ted A. Bassett of Petersham and Bernard A.
Bassett, formerly of Petersham; two daughters, Caroline V. Mousseau of
Ashville, N.C. and Laura J. Cox of Fort Worth, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Lewis B. and
Marion (Dupies) Brigham, and lived more than 35 years in Petersham, and 15
years here. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Orthodox Congregational Church in
Petersham and its Ladies' Union. She was a 50-year member of the Petersham
Grange. She was a member and past president of the Petersham American Legion
Auxiliary. After cremation, funeral services will be held at the convenience
of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Orthodox Congregational Church Flower Fund,
North Main Street, Petersham 01366. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre
Road, is directing arrangements.
