Philip J. Bassett
NORTHAMPTON ? Philip J. Bassett, 78, of Strong Avenue, native of Penzance, England, previously a long time resident of Turners Falls, and retired attendant at Northampton State Hospital, died Friday in a local nursing home. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. His late wife was the former Medora Wood. He leaves a daughter, Phyllis Bush of this city; stepdaughter, Shirley Laizer of Florence; a brother, Martin of Florida; two sisters, Lillian pitzer and Susan Cowan, both of Greenfield; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday morning at John F. O?Connell Funeral Home with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery.
