Irene M. Bassett
Irene M. (Harrington) Bassett, 68, of 101 Lowell St., Springfield, a retired 12-year clerk and telephone solicitor for the Leukemia Society of Western Massachusetts, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital. A lifelong Springfield resident, she graduated from Technical High School. She was a communicant of St. Mary?s Church. Her husband Robinson Bassett, died in 1966. She leaves two sons, James B. of Springfield and William P. of Harrisburg, Pa.; five daughters, Rosemary Douglas, Nancy Gunn, Joan Williams and Kathleen Bassett, all of Springfield, and Patricia Varno of St. Petersburg, Fla,.; a brother, William Harrington of Ludlow; a sister, Mary Harrington of Springfield; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow morning at T.P. Sampson Co., Liberty Street Parlors and in the church with burial in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 57 Suffolk St., Holyoke, 01040.
