Mrs. Nelson Bessette
At her home southwest of the village at about 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon occurred the death of Mrs. Nelson Bessette, aged 63 years. Mrs. Bessette was stricken with pneumonia on the Tuesday previous just after her return home from the village, and this dread disease made rapid progress, although every effort was made by medical skill and competent nurses to combat it.
Mrs. Bessette came to Chateaugay about twenty-eight years ago and had since made her home here, respected and beloved by a large circle of friends. She was a woman of many fine qualities, and was devoted to the members of her family who keenly feel her loss.
She is survived by her husband, four sons, Nelson Jr., William, Bert and Norman, and four daughters, Mrs. Fred Sancomb, of Chateaugay, Mrs. William McGarr, of Glens Falls, Mrs. Dewey Barrow, of Windsor, Vt., and Miss Lucy Bessette, who resides at home. Three sisters and two brothers survive, these being Mrs. Addie Premo, of Dundee, P.Q., Mrs. Mary Lafromboise, of Huntingdon, P.W., Mrs. Mary Luck, of Boston, William Labarge, of Boston, and Peter Labarge, of California.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Notre Dame church in Malone, of which the deceased was a member previous to her coming to Chateaugay. Father Campeau officiated and a large colcourse of friends were present to pay their respects to the memory of the deceased.
