Roy Bassett (1936 ? 2018) (Picture included)
Woodfin - Roy Allen Bassett, 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1996 from Cranston Print Works following 34 years of service and was a veteran of the US Army.
Mr. Bassett was the son of the late Claude Bassett and Mary Elizabeth Calloway Bassett Thomas and wife of Lucille Deatta Roberson Bassett who died February 15, 2013. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are his son, Charles Allen Bassett (Brenda) of Marshall and daughter, Charlene Redmond (Jim Bob) of Candler; granddaughters, Atea Hopper of Hendersonville, Alyssa Hopper of Asheville and Alexis Towe of Marshall; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Robinson (Eldon) of Leicester, Sue Bassett and Beverly King both of Asheville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday, April 20, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating.
Burial will follow in Elk Mountain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Friday at the funeral home.
