John Wesley Bassett

John Wesley Bassett, 81, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Attleboro, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Jane (Fredette) Bassett.
Born on October 18, 1935 in Central Falls, RI, he was the son of the late William Bassett and the late Attara (Craven) Bassett.
John was a graduate of Attleboro High School and proudly and honorably served our country as a member of the United States Marines.
A resident of Attleboro until this past year, John treasured spending time with family and his cherished grandchildren. He loved boating, and was an ardent Patriots fan who also enjoyed NASCAR.
He is survived by his children: Sheila A. Bassett of Jacksonville, FL; James P. Bassett and his wife, Linda Bassett; John Richard Bassett and his wife, Tyna Bassett; and Heather L. (Bassett) Labor and her husband, Mario A. Labor, all of Attleboro, MA. He leaves eight grandchildren: Kendra, Benjamin, Christopher, Kevin, Gregory, John, Dillon, and Zachary; two great-grandchildren: Autumn and Luke; his beloved family friend, Sammi Wortman of Jacksonville, FL; and many dear friends.
Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. ? 5:00 p.m. in the ?Memorial Chapel? of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home ? the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service immediately following visitation at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 in the ?Memorial Chapel? of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Children?s room is available during Visitation and the Memorial Service.

Private burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, at which time John will be laid to rest alongside his late wife.
