Mr. Bass was a painter and a construction worker. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was born in Suwannee County and lived in Live Oak most of his life before moving to McAlpin about six years ago. Mr. Bass attended the Pinemount Baptist Church in McAlpin. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Bailey Hunter of Marietta, Ga., and Meredith Martin of Roanoke, Va.; two sons, Kenneth Jeffrey Bass of Tyrone, Ga., and William "Billy" Bass of Norfolk, Va., and seven grandchildren.
