Mrs. Bassett Dies Suddenly in Anchorage
24-Year Old Bride of Few Months Succumbed
To Heart Attack last Night in Coast City
Death came last night, suddenly, in Anchorage to Mrs. Samuel Clarke
Bassett, bride of less than a year.
The 24-year-old, former Seattle girl was stricken by a heart attack
about 11 p.m. and died before aid could be summoned, according to information
reaching here by telephone.
The account of her death, told briefly over the phone, was that she
and Mr. Bassett had been visiting friends and that the fatal attack occurred
shortly after they returned home.
The young couple were married in Fairbanks last summer. Mrs. Bassett,
whose maiden name was Hilda Margareth Helseth, came to Alaska from Seattle,
where she had been a school teacher. Mr. Bassett came here to meet her from
Nome, where he was agent for the Alaskan Airways. Their honeymoon journey was
a flight to Nome.
They remained in Nome for several months and passed through here this
winter en route to Anchorage, where Mr. Bassett has been agent sinc
He will take the remains to Seattle for burial.
