Rites set today for Virginia Bassett, 93
Graveside services for Virginia Martin Bassett, widow of Dallas artist
Reveau Bassett, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas.
Mrs. Bassett died Wednesday at Walnut Place Nursing Home in Dallas of stroke
complications. She was 93. A native of Navasota, Texas, she moved to Dallas
with her parents when she was a young girl, family members said. She met Mr.
Bassett, a native of the city, and they were married in the early 1930s. Mr.
Bassett gained national fame for his etchings, murals and painting of
wildlife. He died in 1981. Survivors include nephew John F. Moore and nieces
Martha Moore Boren, Lillian Cullum Tate and Virginia Moore Todd, all of
Dallas.
