Couple married quarter century Hoytville
Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Bassett, Hoytville, observed the 25th anniversary of
their marriage Tuesday. The former Oletha Newell and Mr. Bassett were married
Jan. 6, 1951 in the Evangelical United Brethren parsonage, Belmore. Rev. Fred
B. Esterly, pastor of the Belmore and Center EUB Churches, officiated.
Attendants were Grace Newell, sister of the bride and Eugene Leader. Mr
Bassett is the daughter of Mrs. Nellie Newell, Route 1, McComb, and the late
Orla Newell. Mr. Bassett is the son of Mrs. Edwin J. Feehan, Avon Park, Fla,
and the late Cecil T. Bassett. Mrs. Bassett has three sisters, Mrs. Eugene
(Grace) Leader, McComb; Mrs. Gene (Guyneth) Crates and Mrs. Richard (Naomi)
Snavely, Findlay. Bassett has a sister, Mrs. Francis (Alice) Menden, Toledo,
and a brother John C. Bassett, Napoleon. Children of the couple are Lee,
Deshler; Kay, a licensed practical nurse employed at the Holgate Nursing Home,
and Diane a student in McComb High School. There is one granddaughter, Lorie.
Mr. Bassett is an employee of the B. and O. Railroad, Rossford. Both are
members of the Hoytville United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday
School Class. Mrs. Bassett is secretary of the United Methodist Women's group,
and both are custodians of the Hoytville church. A dinner arranged by t
children was Sunday in Nickerson Farms Restaurant, followed by dessert in the
Bassett home. Guests attended from McComb.
The Bassetts have lived in their present home on Church Stre
Hoytville for the past 19 years.
