Ilda M. Bassett, 96, of Bluffton passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born on September 10, 1918, to the late Louis E. and Sarah S. (Shank) Strite in Continental, OH. She married Harold Warren Bassett on November 18, 1937, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1967. Ilda is survived by her son, Larry (Joanne) Bassett of Mandeville, LA; daughters: Lorrayne (Terry, deceased) Good of Marysville, OH and Karen (Jim) Rinehart of Lexington, KY; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Lewis, Paul, Ralph, Charles, and Kenneth Strite. Mrs. Bassett was a farm housewife and worked outside the home in department stores in North Baltimore and Findlay. She was a member of Howard United Methodist Church, Findlay. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2014 at Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay where family will receive friends for one hour (12:30 - 1:30 p.m.) prior to the service.
