Inez Morgan Bassette
Inez Morgan Bassette On Friday, August 23, 2013 at 12:06 am our precious mother, grandmother and friend passed into the loving arms of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Inez Finch Morgan Bassette was born February 19, 1934 in McClain County, Oklahoma to parents Roy Lee Finch and Ola Mae Gunter Finch. She is survived by brother Lloyd Leon Finch and sister Lois Finch of Oklahoma; children Angie Carter (Hal), Jan Kennedy of Visalia, and Patricia Redwine (David) of Tulare; stepson Steve Prendergast (Yvonne) of Oakhurst; stepdaughter Linda Pearce of Fresno; 13 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 26 step-great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Inez was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, Jr. Finch, Ricky Dale Finch and Troy Lee Finch. Mom was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Oklahoma. In 1954 mom traveled by bus to Stockton, California to live with her sister, Lois. Being pregnant in those days was a hardship if you weren't married, so she and baby girl Angie shared their life together until she met Robert Morgan. They were married in 1956 and had two other daughters, Jan and Patty. They made their home in Stockton for a few years before moving to Visalia permanently. Mom worked very hard all her life to support her family the best she could. Inez worked at Josten's and retired from Moore Business Forms. A year after Robert died, Inez and Angie decided to search for her biological father. They found Holmes E. Bassette in Gordon, Georgia, and after a brief visit by mom and Angie, Inez and Holmes married. They lived in Georgia for several years until Holmes passed away and she returned to Visalia. When Inez could no longer care for herself, she was cared for by her daughter Angie for nearly three years until her death. Mom will be missed by all of us. Being the sweetest woman you could have ever meet, she could stand her ground if the need arose! She was the best mother ever to live! There will be an emptiness in our lives but not our hearts, for she will live there with precious memories forever. Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Optimal Hospice of Visalia for the loving care they provided to Inez. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 3 - 6pm. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 9 am. at the Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Tributes and condolences may be made at www.millerchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA 93291 (559) 732-8371.
