Althea C. Bassett of Lowell, 95 (Picture included)
LOWELL -- Althea (Collins) Bassett, 95, passed away peacefully December 10 at D'Youville Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Bassett.
She was born in Billerica on September 26, 1920. She was the daughter of Josiah Hardwick and Albertha Hatfield Collins.
An honors graduate of Lowell High School, she attended Katherine Gibbs Business School in Boston prior to a successful Lowell real estate business with her husband. They both enjoyed a happy retirement in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Althea treasured her many enduring friendships in the Lowell area and Florida. Known for her sense of humor, she loved nothing better than getting together for some funny stories. We all remember for fifty years her double table bridge parties. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by sons James Arthur and Robert of Lowell, son Stephen and his wife Gail Richardson-Bassett of Garland, TX; sister Judith Downs of Middleton, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
