Gettysburg - Mrs. Frances M. Bassett died Tuesday night in Gettysburg at the age of 99.Funeral arrangements are pending with the Lagslet Funeral Home.

Gettysburg - Funeral for Mrs. Frances M. Bassett, 99, who died Tuesday, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the United Methodist Church with the Reverend Donald Rahn officiating. Interment will be in the Gettysburg Cemetery.Frances Hill was born February 3, 1878 to Oscar and Mary Hill at Austin, Minnesota. She married Dr. Bert B. Bassett on October 9, 1904 at Taylor Falls, Minnesota. In 1909, they made their home in Potter County and he died in 1918. Mrs. Bassett worked for Potter County as register of deeds, deputy clerk of courts and deputy sheriff. She was a member of the Esther Circle at the United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and for the past 12 years she had resided in the Oahe Manor.Survivors include one son, Vernice, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Worth (Violet) Stocker, Gettysburg; one sister, Pearl Christiansen, Taylor Falls, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.Langslet Funeral home, Gettysburg announced the arrangements.
