Valdeen B. Bassett, age 80 St. Augustine, Fla., died March 26, 2015 at her home. She was born in Blackshear, Ga. She was a teacher and guidance counselor for the St. Johns County School District, having taught at Crookshank, Webster, and Mill Creek Schools. She was member of Anastasia Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Anastasia Baptist Church, Reverend Ron Moore, officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Patterson Cemetery, Patterson, Ga. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship House c/o Treasure of Florida ADK Nina Coe, P.O. Box 492322 Leesburg, FL 34749.She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard M. Bassett, two sons: Mark Bassett (Mary Jane) and Dan Bassett; all of St. Augustine, brother: Charles Banks, Atlanta, Ga., seven grandchildren: Hannah, Caleb, Alisa, Cody, Kara, Andrea and Colton and 12 great-grandchildren: Isabella, Abigail, Juan, Jayden, James, Vania, Michael, Thomas, Xavier, Aurora and Ariel. Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park is in charge of the arrangements.
