Somers, Conn. May 23 ? The funeral of Howard Daniel Bassett of Main St., Somers, who was killed in an automobile accident in East Longmeadow Thursday night, will be held at the Leete funeral home in Thompsonville Sunday at 2.30 p.m.Rev. Dr. Allison Ray Heaps, pastor of the Somers Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the West Cemetery in Somers. Mr. Bassett was born in Killingly, Conn., April 26, 1926, the son of Lawrence O. and Anne (Kenyon) Bassett, and has resided in Somers for 17 years. He was employed as an electrician at the Diamond Match Co., Springfield. He was in the Merchant Marines in World War II and was a member of Somers Grange. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Cavanaugh Bassett; one son, Howard, Jr., his parents; one sister, Mrs. Albert Gibson, all of Somers; and his grandmother, Mrs. Lena Bassett of Killingly.
