Kenneth Erving Bassett Sr. (1922 – 2009)
Kenneth Erving Bassett, Sr., 86, of Lodi died early Thursday, June 4th, 2009
in a local hospital. He was born November 29th, 1922 in Fresno and has lived
in Lodi since 1957. Mr. Bassett worked for Southern Pacific Railro
switchman for 30 years prior to retirement. He served in the US Army Air Corp
during WWII as a B-17 Tailgunner in the North Africa Theatre. He was a
decorated combat veteran of 50 missions. Mr. Bassett was a past member of the
Lodi VFW Post #68. He was an avid train fan and enjoyed building model trains
and boats and flying and building remote controlled airplanes. He is survived
by daughters, Vicki Fitzhugh of Lodi, Juanda Schatz of Lodi; son, Kenne
Bassett Jr. of Lodi; sister, Vera Morris of Merced; and 5 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife: Annabelle May
Bassett in 1991. At his request, services and visitation will not be held.
Internment is private under the direction of the Donahue Funeral Home. Donahue
Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements.
