Gerard W. Cimon
Cimon, Gerard W. COLONIE Gerard W. Cimon, 77, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 6, 2018, at Albany Medical Center. Born on November 9, 1940, in Colchester, Vt., Jerry was the son of the late Walter and Regina (Bessette) Cimon. He served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Jerry worked for the New York State Department of Education for many years until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and target shooting. He was a loving and devoted husband, brother and uncle. Gerard is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary (Czechowicz) Cimon; his brothers, John (Mary Lynn) Cimon of Kinderhook, and Joseph Cimon of Albany; he is also survived by his niece and nephew who were like children to him, Sharleen (Gene) Coogan and Gregory (Candace) Bard; his nieces, Susan (Andrew Van Acker) Sheldon and Laura (Glenn) Opela; sister-in-law, Barbara Bard, and several other great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gerard's name to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
