Diane Joan Bassett
Port Orange, Florida - Mrs. Diane Joan Bassett, 52, of Port Orange, formerly of Troy, who recently retired from the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany after 27 years of service, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Halifax Medical Center following a short illness, surrounded by her family.
Diane was born and raised in Troy and retired to Florida in September 2004. Diane will always be remembered for her geniunely kind nature.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Bartholomew Bassett; one son, Michael Banks of Troy, New York and three daughters, Jennifer Banks of Troy, Jessica Banks of Albany and Tonya Williamson of Malta, New York. She is also survived by a stepson, Bartholomew Bassett II of Schenectady; one stepdaughter, Suzanne Clark of California and eight grandchildren; Nicholas, Matthew, Andrew, Aidan, Dylan, Darin, Mary and Alex. Diane is also survived by her mother, Joan French of Troy; a sister, Debbara French of Malta, New York; and two brothers, Richard French of Petersburgh and Danny French of Troy.
A memorial service will be held for Diane Saturday morning at 10 at the William Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third Street, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery in Troy.
