Lloyd Dresser (Picture included)
Lloyd "Dress" Dresser, 104, passed away September 19, 2013 at Riverside Manor. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm September 23rd at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Graveside Services will be 11:30 am September 24th at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Lloyd James Dresser was born July 7, 1909 to James E. and Florence Ann (Bassett) Dresser in Donnellson, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a bachelor's degree and then earned a master's degree at Colorado State College of Education. He worked as a teacher and as Superintendent of Schools at Melvin and Swea City. Lloyd then worked for Hammond and Stephens in sales of educational supplies. He retired in 1977, but still worked part time for many years at the Ames High School. Lloyd had lived in Ames since 1952 and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his sons, Jim Dresser of Ames and David (Carol) Dresser of Kelley; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Mary Ann Taylor; one brother; and six sisters.
