      EDWARD A. "PETE" BESSETTE, 80, of 251 Buxton St., Slatersville, a maintenance worker for the former R.A. Bergesson Construction Co. for many years before retiring, died yesterday at Bayberry Commons Nursing Home in Burrillville. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Menard) Bessette.

      Born in North Smithfield, he was a son of the late Scott and Amanda (Chevrette) Bessette.

      Mr. Bessette was an Army veteran of World War II, and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Leclair, Kozlik, Bassett, Logan VFW Post 6342 in Forestdale. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

      He leaves two sisters, Delicia Charbonneau of North Smithfield, and Elizabeth O'Brien of Providence and Narragansett.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Church Street, Slatersville. Burial will be in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham, Mass.
