BESSETTE, MARY ELIZABETH 90, of Cumberland died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 20, 2012. Mary was born on June 17, 1921 in Providence, RI, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Golden) Cunningham. She was the loving sister of the late Joseph, James, and Agnes Murray. After graduating from Hope High School in 1939, she worked at Federal Products for ten years. Having raised her 5 strapping boys she rejoined the workforce as a Secretary at Digitronics until she retired in 1975. Mary is survived by her husband and sweetheart of 63 years, John E. Bessette. They lived happily in the same Cumberland home for 61 years in which they were devoted communicates of St. Patrick Church. Adored mother of five boys; John Jr and his wife Debra of Cumberland, Michael and Lauren Williams of Charlestown, Thomas and his wife Susan of Plymouth, MA, Richard and his wife Lisa of Cumberland and the late Timothy Bessette. She was dearly loved by all 8 of her favorite grandchildren Scott, Ashley, Amanda, Jennifer, Michael Jr., Kimberly, Lily and Timothy and 2 great grandchildren Logan and Emma. She leaves her many nieces, nephews, and God children. Mary was a gracious and charitable woman who was loved by everyone that had the pleasure to speak with her. She was a member of AARP. NARURE, and Association of Retired Americans and St. Patrick Seniors. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Broad St., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
