George E. Bassett
George E. Bassett, 57, veteran Rock Falls rural mail carrier, who is
well known in Christian Science circles throughout northern Illinois, w
stricken and died while on his route Wednesday afternoon. An inquest will be
held by Whiteside county Coroner Dr. C.M. Frye this afternoon at the Wheelock
funeral home in Rock Falls, where Christian Science services for Mr. Bassett
will be held at 3:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the
I.O.O.F. cemetery at Rock Falls.
Mr. Bassett was born May 20, 1888, in Madrid, Ia., the son of George
O. and Anna Lyle Bassett. He was married Dec. 25, 1936, to Julia Gunther at
East Moline. The Bassetts lived at 815 Avenue A.
Surviving are the widow: a brother, Harry, Rock Falls, and two
sisters, Mrs. Emma Smith, Rock Falls, and Miss Fanny Bassett, Dixon.
