- Ralph was a fireman and store manager. They moved from Billings,
Montana to Foster Township, Marion County, Illinois and built a beautif
Cedar home on Bassett land in 1970.
Becky is an English and German teacher. She taught in Billings, then at
Waltonville, Illinois. She later taught German at Rend Lake College near Mt.
Vernon, Illinois. She is a member of and editor for Silentia, for Mensa. Mensa
is an international society of people who have scored in the top 2% of the
population in IQ tests. She is also a member of the Kinmundy Women's Club, of
which she has served as president. Becky has made several travels to Germany
and Austria to visit family and relatives.
Religiously, Ralph and Becky and her daughter belong to the Lutheran
Church - Missouri Synod. Ralph and Becky both belong to the Republican Party.
Ralph Bassett, 89, Dies

Ralph L. Bassett, 89, of Alma, passed away at 11:35 p.m., Frida
December 13, 1996 at Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia.
He was born October 30, 1907, in Marion County, Illinois, the son of
Lafayette and Mary Arnold Bassett. He was a retired fireman of Billings, Montana
and was of the Lutheran Faith. He married Rebecca L. Freitag on May 18, 1951,
and she preceded him in death on December 23, 1993.
Surviving him is a son, Clyde Bassett of Quincy; a daughter, Mary E.
Wildner-Bassett of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren; one nephew, Marvin
Bassett of rural Alma, three nieces, Ruth Williams of Farina, Evelyn Ford of
rural Alma, and Helen O'Dell of Galesburg.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 16, 1996 at Neal Funeral Home
in Kinmundy, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial was in Sandy Branch Cemetery. Memorial:
