Louis F. Bassett

Louis F. Bassett, 86, of Breinigsville, died Saturday, February 16, 2008. He was the husband of Marie A. (Sandy) Bassett. They were married 59 years in July. He was a son of the late Guy and Lou (Foxwell) Bassett. He first worked for DuPont, and later became an owner, with his father and brother, of Philadelphia Ball and Roller Bearing Company, from 1948-1968. He was a Lutheran. Born in Philadelphia, he moved successively to Aldan, Broomall, Pocono Pines, and lastly to retirement in Breinigsville. He was an Army medic in the European Theatre during World War II. He was an accomplished bowler. Survivors: Wife, Marie; son, David of Macungie; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Dahne. Services: Memorial, 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsvile. A calling hour will begin at 7 p.m. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 21, at Lehigh Zion Cemetery, 8269 Spring Creek Road, Alburtis.
