James Duling
James "Junior" Duling, 87, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, at Iles Funeral Homes, Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid. Burial will follow at Hillsdale Cemetery, east of Madrid. Junior was born July 7, 1923 to James Mount and Lyla (Crabtree) Duling. He attended Sheldahl Community School and was a Veteran. On January 8, 1947, Junior married Beulah Jagerson and they made their home and farmed in the Madrid and Sheldahl areas. Junior never met a stranger. He loved farming and his family. Survivors include his wife, Beulah Duling of Madrid; two sons, Carl (Connie) Duling and Steven (Nancy) Duling both of Madrid; sister, Lyla (Wayne) Hutt; brother, C. Ralph (Dee) Bassett; five grandchildren, Traci LeMaster, Bryce (Alyssa) Duling, Toni (Justin) Hamman, Kelly (Jeff) Brozek and Allison Duling; four great-grandchildren, Landon LeMaster, Zachary Mills, Zoe Hamman and Baby Girl Brozek to arrive in May 2011; and his uncle, Floyd (Ramona) Crabtree. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Duling; and three brothers, Don Bassett, Chuck Duling and Don Duling. Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. on Friday, January 21, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either The ACTS Fund at the Madrid Home or St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Madrid.
