- LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF
GRACE L. BASSETT
I, Grace L. Bassett, being of sound mind and memory, and being
desirous of making a disposition of all of my property, both real and personal
in my name at the time of my death, do make this my Last Will and Testament,
hereby revoking any and all wills by me heretofore mad
ITEM ONE
I will and direct that any and all of my just legal debts of every kind
and character that may exist, including doctor bills and funeral expenses, be
paid first by my Executor, hereinafter named, as soon as is practicable after
my death.
ITEM TWO
I give any bequeath to my beloved husband, Ernest Bassett, all of the
household goods and furnishings, together with the family automobile that I
may own the time of my death, for his own use and benefit or to dispose of it
as he desires.
ITEM THREE
I further Will and direct that my Executor, hereinafter named, shall
have appraised and sell the real estate which I own, situated at 702 E. Hoffer
Street, Kokomo, Indiana, legally described as follows, to-wi
Lot Number One Hundred Thirty-eight (138)
In Gateway Addition to the City of Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana,
Together with any and all other real estate that I may own in my name at the
time of my death, and reduce all of said real property to cas
I hereby authorize and empower my Executor, hereinafter named, to sell
said real estate without any order of Court and to execute and deliver good
and sufficient deeds and other instruments necessary to convey and transfer
the same to the purchasers, as fully and effectually as if I was doing it.
It is my desire that any of my children shall have the first right to
purchase said real estate situated at 702 E. Hoffer Street, Kokomo, Indiana,
at the appraised value; if more than one child would be interested in said
property then said real estate shall be sold to the child making the highest
bid therefor above the appraised value. Any child or children interested in
purchasing said real estate shall have sixty days from the date of my death to
make his or her bid for the property and if no child or children indicate a
desire to purchase said real estate, then I direct my Executor to sell the
same with any other real estate that I may own at the time of my death to any
interested person under the rules and regulations as provided under the
Probate Code of the State of Indiana.
ITEM FOUR
I give and bequeath to the St. Luke's Evangelical United Brethr
Church, Kokomo, Indiana, the sum of One Thousand ($1000.00) Dollars. The Board
of Trustees to administer said funds.
ITEM FIVE
(a) After all of my just legal debts of every kind and character have
been paid, including expenses of last sickness, funeral expenses, and costs of
administration, and after Item Two and Item Four of this my Last Will a
Testament have been fully paid and complied with, I give and bequeath to my
beloved children, William M. Bassett, Harold I. Bassett, Helen Laverne Cosand,
Ralph J. Bassett and Mary Ellen Cooley, all the balances and residue of my
estate of every kind, character and description, whatsoever the same may be or
wherever situated, for their own use and benefit or to dispose of it as they
desire. Said names children shall share and share alike in the remainder of my
estate.
(b) I further will and direct that in the event any one or more of my
said children should predecease me, then and in that event, I order and direct
that the interest of each respective deceased child shall then go to the
surviving spouse and the children of said deceased child, the said surviving
spouse and children to take the interest willed to my deceased child as
provided under the general rules of descent as the Probate Code of the State
of Indiana provides of a person dying intestate.
ITEM SIX
I hereby nominate and appoint Ernest Bassett, my beloved husband, as
Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and request that his bond be only
in a nominal amount to comply with the Probate Code as to protection of
creditors. In the event that he has predeceased me, then I hereby nominate and
appoint William M. Bassett, Shelbyville, Indiana, my beloved son, as successor
Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and request that his bond be only
in a nominal amount to comply with the Probate Code as to protection of
creditors.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, Grace L. Bassett, have hereunto set my hand and
seal this 19th day of January, 1960.

This instrument, consisting of three pages, was, on the 19th day of
January, 1960, signed, sealed and acknowledged by the said Grace L. Bassett,
as and for her Last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who at h
request and in her presence, and in the presence of each other, have
subscribed our names as witnesses.

CODICIL TO LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF
GRACE L. BASSETT
I, Grace L. Bassett, of Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, do here
make, publish and declare this to be a codicil to the Last Will and Testament
heretofore made, signed, sealed, published, declared and executed by me, and
bearing date of January 19, 1960, that is to say:
FIRST: I hereby amend and modify Item Six of my aforesaid Last Will
and Testament, so that the said Item Six thereof shall now read as follows:
I hereby nominate and appoint Gerald W. Rybolt, Kokomo, Indiana, as
Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and request that his bond be only
in a nominal amount to comply with the Probate Code as to protection of
creditors.
SECOND: I do hereby ratify and confirm my said Will in all other
respects.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have this 3rd day of February, 1965, signed,
sealed, published and declared the foregoing instrument as and for a codicil
to my Last Will and Testament bearing date of January 19, 196
